Rules

Your team comprises of two drivers and one engine.

You can change drivers and engines after each race (see Contracts section below), throughout the season.

The team with the most points at the end of the season wins.

In the event of a tie, the team with the largest number of points in a single race will win, and then second largest etc until a winner is found.

If the tied teams have identical point scores, well I’ll cross that bridge in the extremely unlikely event I come to it.

How to win points

Each driver scores points according to where they finish.

Each engine scores points according to where both real life cars finish.

e.g. If you have Mercedes engines and they finish 4th and 6th, you get a total of 20 points for your chassis.

Earning Money

Each race, your drivers and engine will earn you money depending on where they finish:

5th - 6th75
7th - 9th65
10th - 13th45
14th - 18th30
19th - 22nd20
23rd - 24th15

You can then use this cash to buy better drivers or engines or buy buildings for your Shonky F1 Technical Centre.

NOTE: The drivers and engines prices will change between races this year, depending on how many teams have selected them.

Contracts (Spending Money)

You have a budget of £225 to found your team.

With this money you need to hire drivers and an engine for a number of races (from 1 to 4). The more races you sign a driver/engine for, the lower their 'Per Race' cost will be (20% compound discount).

The team selection screen has been designed to help work this out for you!

eg Driver A costs £100 per race.
No races hired Per race cost Overall cost
1 £100 £100
2 £80 £160
3 £64 £192
4 £51 £204

Once each race is finished, if your driver/engine contract has expired, you will need to hire new ones*.

*The site will automatically re-hire your previous team for one race at a time if you forget!

Upgrades (Buildings) – Introducing the Shonky F1 Technical Centre

The shonkyF1 upgrade system allows you to extract better performance from your drivers and engine. Each upgrade purchased increases the finishing position for the associated team part. However, your Technical Centre only has a limited amount of land, so you can only concentrate on one area. The ‘Change Buildings’ link when you have logged in will give you full descriptions of the buildings and what they do.
